Introduction:
Zone Control Hunterlisk was a reimagined version of the Zone Control Hydralisk gamemode, this version introduced a system making it possible to buy Overlord that can capture zones and Lurkers that can be used defensively or offensively. Income was also a new mechanic incorperated in this version.
Gameplay:
The game consisted of Zones spread across the map which would spawn Hydralisks or Hunter Killers depending on what was built in the zone. Players would start with a Creep Colony and would branch out from there to either a Sunken Colony or Spore Colony both of which would spawn different Hydralisks, players would be given income per spawn depending on the population similar to the low/high upkeep system in Warcraft III. Players needed to kill all enemy Zone Controllers(Colonies, Sunkens and Spores) to win the game.
Reception:
Players initial opinion was very divided, mostly due to the new system in purchasing Overlords in order to capture zones being confusing. The upkeep system was aplauded for keeping some games reasonably close but overall the map was scrapped due to mostly bad reviews saying it was too little like the original to be apart of the Zone Control Genre.
Conclusion:
The game was labeled a failure at trying to reignite the Zone Control Genre but lead to further successful atempts but remained and interesting idea for its time.
