Tarpit Defence 4 Revenge of the Kaks

Introduction:
Tarpit Defence 4 Revenge of the Kaks was an attempt to wrestle back popular opinion of the _DT_ clan who created the original 3 version after the piracy that was version Tarpit 3.2 and 3.3. The map remained mostly the same but the city was switched to the opposite side and the map was increased in size to give players more room. The terrain was also tweaked to dissalow building to prevent farming, a technique coined in version 2.2 and a mainstay in the 3.0 series.


Gameplay:
The game would play out much the same to past released, protect the city. Except this time every 3rd level would spawn a kakaru which would increase in health the longer the game went, this triggered event would act much like a boss level but reward the same as other levels. All the other key gameplay featured remained the same such as buying units and upgrading them to either deal more damage or to become mutated units by combining them at a mutation stone, the only feature that was removed was Drone Farming.


Reception:
The map was recieved poorly and dubbed too hard, past versions had relied on farming to get the extra minerals in order to keep up with how difficult the game would get but without it the game just got too hard and didn't allow players to keep up at all. Nowadays with the sprite limit fixed the game is a walk in the park due to all units now firing at a proper speed.


Conclusion:
All in all the map didn't replace 3.3 and was the last release in 2005 from myself in the Tarpit series. Although it has been credited with several players releasing 5.0-8.0, 4.0 never recieved the pirated treatment as 3.1 did.
